Day One...
When I arrived in Girona the night before it was around 105 degrees F. Had a great flight, I sat next to the nutritionist from EF, the pro team based in Girona. He was heading out to join the team for the Tour De France. Learned a lot of great info and life in pro teams as he was previously with Team Sky for 10 years and knew all the superstars. I have to admit this sowed some seeds about going veggie !!
I set off from Girona very early as the temperatures were already quite hot.
The day started out great, beautiful coast road into Barcelona. Before that I had to do the climb out of Girona and over the top to the coast which was gorgeous and not too steep. Very very hot in Barcelona, I knew the forecast was saying hotter still to come but little did I know it would be historic heat never seen before...
